Dentures

When you're looking to replace your missing teeth with a durable and lasting treatment option, dentures may be for you. Whether or not a patient receives full or partial dentures depends on their specific dental health and tooth structure. At Broken Arrow Oklahoma, Randy Fagan, DDS can help you determine what type of dentures you will benefit from the most.

Full Dentures

Full dentures are often used when all of the natural teeth are removed from the mouth. There are two types of full dentures – conventional and immediate full. Conventional full dentures are used when all the teeth are removed and the tissue is given proper time to heal before the dentures are placed in the mouth. It can take several months for the gums to heal completely. With immediate full dentures, the dentist will take measures and have dentures fitted to each patient's mouth. After the teeth are removed, the dentures are immediately placed into the month, which is a benefit for those who don't want to live without teeth for a period of time. A follow-up visit is required to refit the dentures as the jaw bones will change shape as the mouth heals.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are used when not all of the teeth will be removed. This is similar to that of a bridge, another dental procedure, however these dentures are not a permanent fixture in the mouth.
